County Commissioners Statement Regarding Planning and Zoning Field Inspectors

Based on some misinformation circulating throughout the community, the Costilla County Commissioners Office wants to make it clear to the public that the Planning and Zoning Office Field Inspectors DO NOT carry firearms while on duty.  These employees will only take out phones and cameras to take pictures to document compliance or non-compliance with the Land Use Code. They DO NOT carry any weapons. Any threats of violence or acts of violence against Planning and Zoning Field Inspectors will be pursued and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.  The County Commissioners have a zero-tolerance policy in regards to threats, harassment or acts of violence against any county employee.
